I was involved in a weather related car accident where I slid into the bumper of another car. Damage is very minimal to both cars. I reported the claim to my insurance company anticpating the other driver would be after me (claimed to work for attorney who deals in car accident cases). We have not been able to contact the other driver and it has been 6 weeks from the date of the accident. She wrote down her name, address and policy number, but the policy number is no good (maybe written incorrectly) and I don’t have a phone number. What will happen if the other driver never responds?

Chances are the other driver really has no insurance at all, and all the talk was just that. You’ve notified your insurance, now let it go. If she ever bothers to contact you, refer her to your insurance. If she doesn’t, forget it, you saved a little time and money.

I’d say, it’s her loss.
If she doesn’t respond, then I wouldn’t even bother pursuing it.

Nothing. They will close down the at fault claim without payment. The end.

then your insurance company never pays them. If they also don’t pay out on your car, you won’t get a surcharge.
