I was in a auto accident and the other party came from a side road across two lanes and hit me in the middle of a four-lane hwy. I called a attorney and he had me sign a paper for i/3 of my money and when I needed him he told me there were no laws to help me and he couldn’t do anything to help me get the medical help I needed. That there was no law that said the ins company had to give me anything.

I’m a year and a half into settling a auto accident claim. Someone suggested I should change attorneys. This attorney has filed some documents that we are heading to court, (40% to him now). He has set up all the medical care, like $10,000 worth, that I have received. Is changing attorneys an option, if so what are the pros and cons. I like him fine, barely know him, wouldn’t know the difference, never had a claim before. I need to continue my medical care and that is on hold until it’s settled.
Thanks you’ll. I have not been fronted money. Actually, I am not even being reimbursed for prescription refills for a year. I’d say $200 worth. I hear I am in charge, but also realize he’s the expert, I know nothing but I was hurt and my new normal is different. I deserve compensation for the damage to my body. I had no health care insurance, no PIP, so he got care fronted. Based on his name recognition, and boards he serves on, he’s a big dog attorney, in a good size city in Texas. Switching was mentioned because of the time involved: 1.5 years. Thanks for your info and I’ll wait this out. I was told by a staff member early on that patience on my part would be beneficial so I’ve never done much more than follow his lead.

The person did not get an attorney or anything, my insurance is taking care of it, so is it normal for bodily injury claims to take this long with out attornies getting involved?

Today I found out that the handful of bills that the Third Party did pay was submitted to MY insurance company by the Third party to be reimbursed. And now, My insurance company is claiming that they paid these bills and put a lien on my settlement for the amount they paid. This doesn’t make sense to me. I didn’t submit any bills to my own insurance. I paid stuff out of pocket the first few trips to the doctor and since then every thing else has been sent to our health insurance. My Insurance company wasn’t any help to us at all. I did all the leg work to get things done for repairs to my car. They haven’t handled anything for me. I do NOT want to pay them a penny. I plan to talk to my attorney. I just wanted some sort of info ahead of time. Can they do this? And why would they reimburse the third party like that?
A bottom feeder lawyer?? Why would you say that? The accident was in 6/04, I didn’t hire him until 1/06. He didn’t know anything about it.
