Harassed asked: My attorney sent a “settlement demand” to an insurance company of the driver who caused an accident I was injured in. I am wondering how long that insurance company has to either accept or deny that demand. Anyone know?

eltenientefuerte asked: When ever you get into an accident, you need representation.
The insurance company is out to beat you. Its the insurance company job to avoid responsibility & save money and the attorney obviously would have them to accept liability and get the money you deserve for your pain and suffering, mental anguish and stress.
I am a paralegal, im not playing Devils advocate here, im here to help and educate the victims of accidents.
Please this is not a solicitation attempt, last time I tried giving legal advice and about 4 idiots reported me. If you dont have any education in the legal field, leave your comments at home.
If your serious answer my question with a question, i will do my best to help.

Pazi B asked: I was in an auto accident 6 months ago; the other driver completely at fault. The other driver’s auto insurance company has accepted full liability.
In the process of recovering, I had to use my sick time benefits from work in order to go to doctor appointments and 2 weeks of physical therapy. I am a salaried employee, and the sick time I used avoided my losing any pay for those medical visits.
Right now I am in the process of negotiating settlement with the other party’s insurance company. I initially thought I would be entitled to cash reimbursement for the sick time I had to use for the doctor visits and PT, since it was utilized as a result of the other party causing the accident.
However, the claims adjustor I am dealing with says I am not eligible for reimbursement since I am a salaried employee. They stated that because I didn’t lose any pay by going to the doctor and PT, that I am not entitled to reimbursement for the sick time used.
Is this true?
I guess my thoughts are that I had to use the sick time as a result of their policyholder’s actions. These were benefits I lost as a result of the acccident, and they could have been used in the future when I needed them. If I didn’t use the sick time, my salaried paycheck would have been reduced appropriately.
I have never been in an accident before, and have not involved an attorney at this point.
Are there any adjustors out there who can provide some feedback regarding this issue?
The accident occurred in southern Wisconsin, if that helps.

karen d asked: I was in a car accident with a pedestrian which i felt wasnt my fault cause she walked into the side of my car while i was moving slow in traffic i honestly think this person is trying to get some money i filed a claim w/ my insurance company the next day. a week later i go to the police station and they state that the police report was missing. this morning an attorney representing the pedestrian calls me asking for my insurance policy # he had my license plate # but i wasnt sure if im supposed to give that insurance info over the phone to him and he stated that he had a copy of the police report so that sounded even fishier cause the police station supervisor said that they dont have the report and no one has a copy. What should i do? I told him ill call him back. Should i call him and give him the policy # or should i tell him that my insurance company will contact him? Since an attorney is contacting right after the accident it probably means im getting sued.

doctaamg asked: I was involved in a car accident where I wasn’t at fault. My attorney handled all of my medical bills and told me not to pay them before we got settlement from the other party’s insurance. In the meantime I kept receiving bills and he told me all were alerted and put on hold. Then one single bill, the least expensive, for $81 was put through collections. I immediately paid to avoid any penalty and my credit score plummeted from 720 to 600 because of it!!! It’s now back up to around 645. My attorney played dumb and said that I was responsible for all my bills and it wasn’t his fault. So now I got a crappy credit score because of 81 dollars! I complained to experian and they said they couldn’t do anything at it was legitimate for the collection agency to post it on my report. What can I do now?

tleigh517 asked: My boyfriend was hit in an intersection where he had a green light and the other guy says he “thought he had a green light”.my bf was driving my car at the time and is not on my insurance(we live together and have same insurance, but not on same policies )
My van is only worth about $700.00 and I don’t know if we should call the other guy’s insurance or my insurance, or an attorney. The police report listed the OTHER driver first and the officer told my bf that the insurance Co. counts that as who was at fault sometimes….even though neither were ticketed because, officer did not see it.
This is very confusing. I’m glad there are no injuries and it is only damage. Should we try contacting the guy who hit him or his insurance? I don’t want to be harassing him.
Bad situation, I guess.
Confused in FL???????
The first thing my BF’s insurance people asked was “Who was listed firston the report?” They also said that my insurance would probably not do anything for me, but raise my rates. I have basic coverage and so does BF.
