The judgement was that it was my friend’s fault, but he didn’t have an attorney, and the officer that worked the accident was the other person’s(involved in the accident)boyfriend. Also, I need to know if it is too late to appeal it since he didn’t have a lawyer and the pictures of the accident show that when the other person pulled out in front of him–he hit her in the side not the rear of the vehicle. Thanks for the other answers. And, no, he doesn’t want it to just go away—but the other person involved won’t discuss anything with him, so he needed to know what to do…Thanks…

this is in ilinois. I reported it to the DMV with one of those forms they send out to you. My insurance company did not pay because they said I did not call them, which i did the day of the accident. i had moved to Cali shortly after that for about 6 years. now I’m getting letters from an attorneys office trying to collect! I called my agent and she no longer has my records as they only keep them 5 years. however she is mailing me a copy of a letter from the insurance company that states failure to pay due to no notification from me. my agent also said the company is no longer in business. I wonder why!!!!!!
i am now on disability and cannot afford a lawyer

Most “auto accident” attorneys that provide “free initial consultations” want you to be physically injured (since those cases end up being a lot bigger). My total dispute is about $1500 (and I refuse to lie and come up with the “stiff neck” story), so a person who deals with physical injuries probably wont be interested in my case.

Does anyone know where I can find free/low cost help? I am in the bay area in california? Or, if you are a lawyer in the bay area, ……………………..
